Study Shows the Universe Is Closer to the End Than Expected
February 9, 2010 · 10 Comments
Every known system degenerates. Metal rusts, food rots, and flowers wither. Even something as large as the universe will eventually run down. How much usable and still-ordered energy remains in the universe?
Australian researchers have generated a new estimate, one that includes the energy-destroying effects of “supermassive black holes.” Their computations indicate that the universe is perhaps 30 times more run down than similar estimates published just last year.
After adding in “the contributions of black holes 100 times larger than those considered in previous budgets,” co-authors Chas Egan and Charles Lineweaver reported in the Astrophysical Journal that the universe is at least an order of magnitude more run down than secular astronomers once thought.1
The largest contributor by far to universal entropy (a measure of usable energy) is generated by supermassive black holes, according to the published study. Evidence of these, as well as the smaller “stellar” black holes, has been found mostly in galactic cores. Black holes rapidly randomize ordered forms of energy and matter, turning them into heat that then dissipates.
Though some of the assumptions used in the Egan and Lineweaver study rely on aspects of Big Bang cosmology, a large portion of the computed entropy was derived from temperature and volume measurements or estimates. A host of other observations has demolished the Big Bang theory,2 but the very fact that the universe is slowing down is both counter to evolutionary assumptions and supportive of biblical creation.
Lineweaver said in an Australian National University press release, “Contrary to common opinion, the maintenance of all the complicated structures we see around us―galaxies, stars, hurricanes and kangaroos―have the net effect of increasing the disorder and entropy of the universe.”3 The longstanding scientific observation of continually decreasing order in all systems contradicts the evolutionary doctrine that order has spontaneously increased.4 But evolution’s simple-to-complex story has been so uncritically accepted that it isn’t surprising that the science of entropy, which calls that story into question, is not as well known.
Since the universe is currently unwinding through natural processes, it stands to reason that at some point it was intentionally “wound up” by something outside of the universe. This corresponds well with the Bible’s assertion that “in the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.”5
In fact, the culmination of the heavens wearing down was mentioned in the book of Isaiah, to whom God said, “Lift up your eyes to the heavens, and look upon the earth beneath: for the heavens shall vanish away like smoke, and the earth shall wax old like a garment, and they that dwell therein shall die in like manner: but my salvation shall be for ever, and my righteousness shall not be abolished.”6
Egan and Lineweaver suggested that future research could use their new numbers to recalculate how much time the universe has left. But failing to consider revelation from the God of creation must lead to confusion over the ultimate questions of origin and destiny. Whereas evolutionary scientists can be sure that the universe is running down—though unsure about when it started or how it will end—God states that “all the host of heaven shall be dissolved, and the heavens shall be rolled together as a scroll,”7 “and the stars shall fall from heaven,”8 so that He can establish “new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.”9 This present universal economy will be supernaturally restructured long before it fizzles out.

Which scientists of the past believed in a Creator?
As far as we know, the scientists of the past listed here believed in a literal Genesis unless indicated with an asterisk. The ones who did not are nevertheless included in the list below because of their general belief in the creator God of the Bible and opposition to evolution. But because the idea that the earth is ‘millions of years’ old has been disastrous in the long run, no present day ‘long-agers’ are included intentionally, because we submit that they should know better.
Note: These scientists are sorted by birth year.

Surprising ‘Stone-Age’ Surgery Evidence Found in France
February 7, 2010 · Leave a Comment
An unexpected report has recently surfaced of a successful and sophisticated Stone-Age amputation.1 In an early tomb found south of Paris, France, scientists uncovered the remains of a man who was missing an arm. Their examinations revealed that it had been cut off just above the elbow and had healed over, indicating that he lived for perhaps several years following the successful surgery.
The Times reported that “the patient seems to have been anaesthetised, the conditions were aseptic, the cut was clean and the wound was treated.”1 The technical report was published in the journal Antiquity.2
ICR News has reported several finds indicating that Stone Age people were surprisingly modern in their knowledge and accoutrements, including Stone-Age jewelry and makeup, and high strength glue and stone knives from even earlier in man’s history.3 This most recent discovery adds further evidence of their sophistication—not only did Stone Age people know how to accessorize, but according to archaeologist Cécile Buquet-Marcon, “they obviously had medical knowledge.”1
Near this most recent discovery, a dredging operation periodically brings up Ice Age artifacts from the seafloor, including mammoth remains. Today’s North Sea bed was probably dry land during the Ice Age, which lasted for several hundred years after the Flood of Noah’s time. The immediate post-Flood seashores are roughly indicated by the continental shelf margins, which are easily seen online with Google maps satellite view. After the ice melted, sea levels rose and separated England from Europe.4
But for a time, people migrated into what was then a lowland. Tooled bones and hand axes have been found there.5 So, although the earliest European inhabitants had not yet had time to produce sophisticated technologies, once again science has learned that “they were more developed than previously thought.”1
If the first humans were specially fashioned by God, then it would be expected that archaeological artifacts would reflect the fact that humans have always had the abilities that can be observed in modern people. The more evidence that is uncovered, the more clear it becomes that mankind has been fully human from the very beginning.

Time to Accept Your New Family
February 7, 2010 · Leave a Comment
Are you saved? Really saved? I don’t mean religious. I mean saved! I mean you have a personal, dynamic relationship with Almighty God. If you do then you have been adopted. Did you know that? You’ve been adopted out of this world which is comprised of a global group of persons who are lost. God regrets making humanity. He really does. Unless a person takes part in the adoption process and is “born again” Jesus said that person will not inherit the Kingdom. It’s a sad reality but when you take the time to conflate everything the Bible says about salvation, judgement, adoption, etc then it is the reality that the Bible paints. It is also the only way to reconcile the evil in the world with the supposed goodness of God. If God is so good, why does evil happen? Well, that’s because all people are evil and are doing the things their father, the devil, does.
When you receive the free gift of salvation you are born again and adopted out of the group that God regrets making and into the group that He doesn’t regret making. That sounds harsh at first read but think about the alternative. If everyone is God’s child then the Bible doesn’t make any sense. God is not to blame for evil and yet evil happens all the time. Jesus himself explained the evil things people do because they are doing the works of THEIR father, the devil.
So after you’ve been adopted it is very important to begin identifying yourself with your new family as soon as possible. If you’re saved; I mean really saved; you are going to begin feeling a pull away from your earthly family. They are going to begin feeling increasingly uncomfortable with you as well. This shift is a reality for all believers. For myself it ended with my entire family disowning me; mother and father included. I became intimately aware of what David meant when he wrote “when my mother and father abandon me the Lord will take up my cause” (ps 27:10 paraphrase).
So, some of you may be curious about details like how to act around unsaved parents who aren’t saved. Well if you’re out on your own then you’ve probably begun to experience the strife that comes with being adopted out of the world. Your brothers and sisters are probably upset that you believe the things you do. They see you as “judgemental” simply because you exhibit an open and outward concern for their eternal soul. You seem different and not any fun anymore. Maybe you’ve been told that you’re in a cult. You get mocked and ridiculed by your siblings. Your biological parents show similar concerns but they seem more sincere. Eventually you will begin to advance in spiritual maturity and holiness and your parents will become threatened by you. They will feel abandoned by you. They will appeal to your carnal emotions and say things like “you just think you’re so much better than everyone else” or “why don’t you love your family anymore” and “you care more about that church than your own flesh and blood”. Jesus said He did not come to bring peace but a sword. Of course it’s easier if your parents and siblings are truly saved as well. They simply become your brothers and sisters under Christ in the body rather than parents and siblings.
It is more difficult when a young person is saved and still lives at home. As an orthodox Jew, for example, the person may actually get kicked out of the home and immediately disowned. In extreme religions like radical Islam the family may try to kill the person; in which case a decision for Christ may mean never going home again. No matter though since in reality you have been adopted at that point anyway so your REAL home becomes heaven and you get the opportunity to begin identifying yourself with that new paradigm right away. This is one of the benefits of persecution. My experience has been that as I am put out by my old family I see the father heart of God in a very real and tangible manifestation. It is primarily in this area that N. American believers are sorely lacking. They cling to the benefits of old paradigm relationships and miss out on what true adoption into the Kingdom means.
So if you get saved but still live at home with your parents and they don’t wish to kick you out or kill you then I suggest treating them with the same respect that you would any other authority. Think about it. Whenever I have to deal with police officers or customs officials or judges I often don’t have much respect for the person. I mean let’s be honest. But I find that if I respect the badge and ignore the faults of the person I get treated well and people give me favor in return. Since you’re living in your parent’s home you should respect them. You will find it very uncomfortable at times but as they see you mature and grow in Christ you will gain THEIR respect and perhaps even be used to save them. There is no guarantee that they WILL be saved however so it is very important to begin associating yourself with your new family as soon as possible so that you can begin experiencing the benefits of that adoption. Your new father has no genetic sickness to pass on to you. Think about that one.
This adoption thing is quite serious. God takes it VERY seriously. Perhaps you should too. Do it now. www.prosperousindividual.com

Avatar: There Are NO Good Guys!

Ok, I admit it. I went to the theatre and blew my fifty bucks on Avatar. I did it for my son, of course. Well, ok, I was a little curious too. Here’s my take on it.
The basic premise is the same as it is in every James Cameron movie. It all comes down to the evil corporation. In this case the corporation is mining for a very valuable mineral called “unobtainium”. That’s right “Core” fans. Its the same mineral used to make the vessel that went to the center of the earth in that movie. In Avatar they have found unobtainium on a distant planet called “Pandora”.
On Pandora they (the evil corporation) have encountered some native people called “Na’vi”. The Na’vi are a VERY religious people who worship and interact with a being, or conciousness, which inhabits the center of the planet and basically controls everything. That’s what we in the real world called “Gaia” which was the ancient Greek earth goddess. People today flippantly call her “Mother Nature” and modern witches, or “wicca” take the mother nature symbolism quite seriously.
So from a Christian perspective (what else is there?) this movie has no good guys. A friend of mine and I were discussing the new Chuck Norris book about all the quotations out there concerning the greatness of Chuck Norris and his apparent super-human abilities. I said that if Chuck Norris landed on Pandora to help kill the REAL bad guys in the epic battle scene he would quite literally be the last one alive.
So there we have it. On one hand we have a greedy corporation using ex-military to kill innocent beings for the sake of profit and on the other hand we have a bunch of earth worshippers who are committing idolatry by worshipping a false god. Will someone please get these people a Bible?
Oh, and by the way, in case you’re wondering about the impact of this in the real world I highly suggest taking a close look at this in a more serious way. There are stories of people killing themselves out there after watching the show because they see this amazing planet on the screen and then they walk outside and see carbon emissions spewing out of tailpipes, people throwing cigarette butts on the ground and then, to top it all off, they turn on the news and see the evil corporations and military ruining the planet. What a shame.
There is a religious movement coming out of this too. In my research I came across avatarplanet.com. It’s a religious movement which boldly declares that without their Avatar program your life is pointless and doomed. Sounds very religious to me. The truth of the matter is that without the cross of Christ you are, in fact, dead. No amount of avatar training will change that.
Oh, there is perhaps one redeeming quality in the movie. It gives the religion of atheism a severe spanking. So there’s at least one reason to watch… If only just one.
